One pedophile organization' s "Lure
of the Month" column gives advice on
approaching and seducing children. One month they touted soap crayons: "Children
undress themselves!"
Members of this
sick organization receive
monthly communications
that include seduction
techniques and advice
on avoiding detection and
prosecution. One
of the organizations is
reported to have
approximately 5,000 members
that could be
documented. Numbers concerning
other organizations
are harder to come by.
As you can imagine,
this is a very secret sick
society.
What can you do?
Talk to your children about
sex, strangers,
and what to do if someone
is acting inappropriately
toward them. The more you
talk with them,
the more they will ask
questions and open
up the lines of conversation.
We need to
tell them a lot more than
the "birds
and the bees" these
days ...and we need
to start when they are
much younger. Print
out this article and read
it to them. Have
a discussion about sexual
offenders. Get
to know their friends.
If you are having a problem
with an older,
more computer savvy child,
remove the modem
like a friend of mine did.
When you get home
from work and are able
to supervise what
they are linking to, put
it back.
Do more research. Call
the police in your
town to report pedophiles
and child pornography
on the Internet. Encourage
education on this
subject in the schools.
If something is happening
to someone else' s child
- don' t look the
other way. Report it. Go
to the parents if
possible first, then to
the authorities if
necessary.
Get to know their friends off-line and on-line. I wonder if the two boys who murdered all
those people in the Colorado
High School
Tragedy would have acted
out their violent
fantasies on their own.
